A community gathering at Wakamatsu Farm with visitors of all ages.

Events

The watershed runs on a calendar.

Hikes, fishing clinics, backpacking trips, Japanese flower arranging at Wakamatsu, herbal workshops, school field trips, volunteer work days in the meadow. ARC programs public events almost every week of the year — space is limited, most fill fast.

What shows up on the calendar

Six recurring program types.

Every event serves the same mission: connect people to the watershed so they become its defenders. These are the formats you'll see repeat.

  • Guided hikes

Naturalist-led walks at Wakamatsu, Salmon Falls Ranch, and El Dorado Ranch — geology, wildflowers, oak woodland, hydrology.

  • Heritage workshops

Japanese flower arranging (ikebana), tea ceremonies, and crafting classes at Landmark Wakamatsu Farm.

  • Historic farm tours

Docent-led tours of the 1869 Japanese colony site. Schoolhouse, Okei-san's grave, the Graner house, the bunkhouse.

  • Fishing & backpacking

Introductory fly-fishing, youth fishing days at Acorn Creek, and multi-day backpacking along the South Fork American.

  • Volunteer work days

Leek Springs Meadow restoration, trail maintenance, invasive removal, culvert repair. Tools and instruction provided.

  • Nature Camp (summer)

Week-long day camps for kids 6–12. Reduced tuition for ARC members. Registration opens each spring.
